"Got a plan? I could run in and kill 'em all. That's my usual go-to."
—Duke to Francis King.[src]

Duke Helmer is a main character and a survivor of the outbreak in GWR's What Remains. He is a resident of Pittsford who served as a ranger for the The Coalition of Pittsford and Fairport prior to joining the resistance movement.

Season 1[]

"The Third Door"[]

Duke was seen on the tram station platform along with the rest of his unit. He watched from the background as Max Rutherford conversed with Junior Kilean and Anna Bingham.

Season 2[]

"Questionable Ethics"[]

Duke was encountered by Outpost 2-15 on their initial entrance to Pittsford. He was seen protecting Larue Monroe in the sewer offices, and explainrf that both of them were separated from the rest of his unit. The group opted to leave the pair behind due to the injuries suffered to Max while Dwayne Clancy decided to stay behind to help his former squadmate.

"Oppressor"[]

Duke was among the Ranger team sent into the sewers to recover Larue. He was encountered by the unit in the sewers under heavy fire by the Dollfaces, explaining the situation to the other Rangers. Max and Francis King ordered him to stand down after Greg Foster was shot, and managed to stop the firefight peacefully. Two months later, Duke and the rest of his unit were assigned to an joint-operation with the OSI along with the rest of Unit 2-15. He later partook in the assault on the apartment block where he was able to escape unscathed.

A few days later, Duke was one of many assigned to the raid on The Dollhouse. He and the rest of his unit set out while members of 2-15 followed up on a lead at the nearby warehouses. He was seen in the background watching from afar as Matias Brühl surrendered to Max without incident. He returned to the Ranger Field Office alongside the rest of his unit. Later, Duke was seen again at the firing range when Max and Francis approached Truman Parker about the information given to them on Epsilon Station and their meeting with Marshall Grant. He, along with the rest of his unit agreed to go rogue from The Coalition and investigate the station independently.
