Francis King is a main character and survivor of the outbreak in GWR's What Remains. He is a Junior Ranger of The Coalition of Pittsford and Fairport.

Pre-Apocalypse

Louisville, Kentucky

Prior to the outbreak, Francis King attended Bellarmine University. Nothing else is known about his life before outbreak.

Post-Apocalypse

After the onset of the outbreak, Francis managed to escape Bellarmine University alongside Jim Jackson after attending an ill-fated party. At some point, Francis and Jim ended up in Monroe County, New York and later joined the Coalition. Francis was conscripted into the Rangers, he did not become one by choice.

• Francis is a returning character who has appeared in one past lore, Lines We Cross: Survivor Stories (2020), as a main character and one of two sole confirmed survivors of the Bellarmine University Massacre.
  • The episode title of Francis King's first appearance in What Remains is the same title of the finale of the Bellarmine University Survivor Stories arc.
  • Additionally, Francis King's backstory heavily references this arc. It is unknown if Lines We Cross and What We Become takes place in the same universe, or if it is a case of recycling.
    • It was revealed in "Oppressor" that Francis King's backstory is identical to the events of Lines We Cross: Survivor Stories' Bellarmine University arc. This suggests the events of Survivor Stories was recycled into What We Become's universe. It is unknown how much of the lore remains the same.
