Samantha Thompson, otherwise known as Sam, was a survivor of the outbreak in GWR's What We Become. She made a brief cameo in What Remains during Terry Winters' dream sequence in the episode "Paradigm Shift", where she was found in the security room of the Crossroads Mall playing Minecraft.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Shively, Kentucky[]
Prior to the outbreak, Sam lived with her parents in Shively, Kentucky for half the year. The other half was spent in Nashville, Tennesse where she stayed with her grandmother while attending Nashville School of the arts. The outbreak began while she was home in Kentucky for winter break.

Valley Station, Kentucky[]
Sam and her family left for the Crossroads Mall in Valley Station, Kentucky seeking refuge at the start of the outbreak. Her parents crashed their car and were ultimately devoured, while Sam made it out mostly unscathed. She was found by Isaac Castillo and his group, who took her to the mall. She stuck with them until her death in mid-2016 when she was shot in the back of the head by Orion after being taken hostage alongside her friend Georgia Clarke.

- Sam was best friends with Stella Takeuchi and Danielle Stenton during high school
- Stella and Danielle are the sisters of Hana Takeuchi, a member of Coalition Unit 2-15, and are set to appear in Hana's loyalty quest "Apprehension" during the episode "Paradigm Shift"
- Sam is autistic, and her special interest is Minecraft
- Prior to her main appearance in What We Become and cameo in What Remains, Sam had appearances in The Mall Lore (2015), Cloverport (2016), and Final Descent (2019)
