Tyrell Mason, better known as New Jack or simply Jack, is a survivor of the outbreak in GWR's What Remains. He is a conscripted Ranger of The Coalition of Pittsford and Fairport who resides in Fort Harris (Outpost 2-15).

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Location Unknown[]

Nothing is known about Tyrell's life prior to or as the outbreak began.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Pittsford, New York[]

At some point during the outbreak Tyrell made his way toward the Pittsford, capital of The Coalition, where he settled into the community and later enlisted to become a Ranger. Tyrell was assigned to the first wave of requested recruits to Outpost 2-15 in Monroe County, New York.

Season 1[]

"The Third Door"[]

Tyrell was encountered by Unit 2-15 when he and the rest of his unit were pinned down by the Miller Family shortly after their arrival in The Barrens. He helped dispatch of the Millers alongside the rest of his unit but was severely injured, and was shortly after seen being prepared to leave for Outpost 2-15.

"Rebirth"[]

As Max Rutherford and the rest of her unit discussed the impending battle, Tyrell and Greg Foster were at the campfire cleaning their weapons. A short time later, Tyrell accompanied Max and the rest of his unit to fight the Miller Family at their compound. After most of the Miller's were wiped out in the initial assault, Tyrell accompanied the rest of his unit into the hall and participated in the final fight. He witnessed the death of Benedict Harris. He was able to survive the encounter. Afterwards, Tyrell was seen aiding in the recovery of Benedict's body.

A few days later, Tyrell was seen mourning the loss of Benedict along with the rest of his unit. Some time later, Tyrell was present when the group decided to name the outpost Fort Harris in honor of their deceased squadmate.

After receiving an assignment from Francis Hood, Tyrell accompanied Max and the others back to the Miller Family compound to recover the corpses of the mutated cultists. After arriving, Tyrell investigated the building with the rest of his unit and discoverd that the corpses had dissolved. He followed them further into the compound after the discovery of an underground bunker and aided in dispatching of several creatures. He witnessed John MacMillan's appearance in the underground prison cells, and subsequent mutation. He fled with the others back to the main hall, where he participated in the final fight and was injured. He managed to narrowly survive the encounter. He fled with the group back to the vehicle as the Red Fog storm set in, and overheard the announcement of the Pittsford bombings over official channels.

Later, Tyrell was seen in the clinic recovering. His injuries were revealed not to be serious, but Max decided to leave him at Fort Harris. He agreed, and remained at the encampment as the rest of the group departed to provide relief efforts in Pittsford.

Season 2[]

"Questionable Ethics"[]

After the surviving members of Max's unit were able to escape to the Ranger Field Office, Nat Brackenridge called back to Fort Harris. Tyrell answered, and gave a status update, revealing that the camp's morale was low and that Marvin Findlay's group had become a nuisance. Nat told him that Marco Alferez did not survive the entry to Pittsford, and Tyrell acknowledged his friend's death.

"Oppressor"[]

Two months later, Tyrell failed to make his usual check-in with his unit in Pittsford, leaving his fate unknown.
